Commissions

Commissioning a piece of artwork is a personal and unique experience, if you have a special place, memory or moment that you'd like captured in a painting, I'd love to hear from you.

Whether it's a glowing sunset from a treasured holiday, the view from your home or simply something that adds character and feeling to your home, I can work with you and create something that is truly special and one of a kind.

The full process is outlined below, please get in touch if you'd like to discuss in more detail.

1.

Inspiration

The first step in the commissioning process is to share a photo, reference or series of references that have inspired your commission request.

I'd love you to share the story of why this image or place is special to you or a loved one, and the reason you'd like it captured in a painting so I can paint with the emotion in mind.

2.

size & space

The next stage is to understand where you are planning to place the piece, how big the space is, the size of artwork you would like and what you would like it to bring to the room you are displaying the work in.

It might be, calming and reflective, peaceful and happy or a favourite dramatic and evocative landscape or a combination of all these emotions!

The size & detail of your painting will affect the price so please consider your budget when including these details in the brief.

4.

the date

If your commission is for an occasion such as a special birthday, an anniversary, retirement or other important date, please let me know when you need to receive the piece by.

I can usually complete artworks in 2-4 weeks depending on the detail and size of the piece required, but it's always best to leave plenty of time to get it completed, varnished and delivered to you.

FRAMING

If you'd like your painting to arrive ready to display there are a number of framing options available which I can arrange for you.

Canvas can be framed either as a traditional picture frame, or in a floating frame which gives the illusion of the artwork floating within the frame.

Please note the frame will be an additional cost to the artwork and may add additional time to you receiving your painting.

Upon receiving your commission request I will come back to you for a chat through your requirements either by phone or by email whichever is easiest for you and confirm whether your request is possible within the required timeframe.

We will also agree the cost of the piece upfront, depending on detail and size required your work may be slightly more than some of my existing pieces but you can use these as a guide when thinking about your budget.

Once we have agreed costs and timelines for completion I require a 10% deposit, which if in the instance you are unhappy with the work will be redeemable against any other available work on kateescott.co.uk. I hope this is an unlikely scenario as I will keep you up to date with the progress of the work, and offer points for amends if necessary during the process.

Full payment is due prior to delivery of the finished artwork.
