Hi, I'm Kate,

 

I've always had a deep passion for art, and am lucky enough to find joy in anything creative, it usually completely consumes my attention once I start a project! But I've always come back to acrylic painting.

I studied art all through school and up to Foundation Diploma level at college, but ended up studying English Literature at University and going into the corporate world and commercial buying.

​

I've recently rediscovered the joy of picking up my brushes after moving back to the Somerset countryside in 2024.

I've painted on and off since college, but was lucky to have time this summer to spend more time painting and completely fell back in love with it! It has a way of shutting off your brain and so when I have a brush in my hand I can lose hours.

I'm enjoying exploring colour, technique and creating works inspired by the dramatic Exmoor skies, my love of the South West Coast Path and hiking adventures into hills and mountains around the world.​​​

The ever changing beauty of natural landscapes has always had the ability to bring me a state of peace, contentment and focus and I aim to bring this feeling to my work combining colour with metallics to evoke the natural energy of sunlight.​​I'm currently exploring works in and around Exmoor, and a couple of more abstract pieces which are inspired by my travels around the world, particularly in the Swiss Alps.​​

After some encouragement from family and friends, I launched a small number of original acrylic on canvas pieces in September 2024 and am excited to see where my art goes next!
